Today, I opened WeChat Reading and found that I have finished reading 44 books in the past six months, some of which I listened to while on the road. I am very grateful for the first book recommended by Yafei, which opened the door to reading for me.
1. "Deng Xiaoping Era"
This book is recommended to be read once a year; it tells the story of Deng Xiaoping's life experiences. This was also the first book I finished after I developed a reading habit. It is indeed very long; I checked my reading time on WeChat, and it was nearly 25 hours. What impressed me deeply was Deng Xiaoping's three falls: experiencing the illness and death of his wife and children, the criticism from his remarried wife leading to their divorce, and the subsequent persecution of his child that resulted in paralysis. He withstood pressure and insisted on his ideas, even though yielding at that time could have prevented his downfall.
Additionally, the book discusses the future development of the entire country, breaking the cult of personality, the games in promoting economic modernization, adapting to the limited openness of the times, and the games between different countries at that time. All of these are worth reading repeatedly.
At that time, I felt that whether it was great people or us, everyone is an ordinary person who encounters various lows and disappointments. However, the difference is that they persist in their ideals and find ways to advance, ultimately achieving great things.
2. "The Nature of Poverty"
I initially watched a video by Teacher Li Yongle, which refreshed my definition of poverty.
The reason why the poor are poor is largely due to the massive amount of misinformation they receive. They do not understand the benefits of vaccinating children, the importance of basic education, how much fertilizer to use, which methods are most likely to contract AIDS, or what politicians do every day.
If they do not vaccinate, they may fall into the poverty trap due to illness one day. If they do not understand the importance of basic education, they may miss out on correct information sources due to illiteracy. If they do not know how much fertilizer to use, they may reduce their harvest by over-fertilizing. If they do not know what politicians are doing every day, they may allow someone who claims "no one understands viruses better than I do" to come to power.
Moreover, the poorer the area, the more customs there are. Many young people do not have time to save for their funeral expenses before they pass away, yet their families are still forced by tradition to hold elaborate ceremonies. Do you remember the popular "Black Brother Carrying the Coffin"? A coffin-carrying service is not cheap locally...
There is also the neglect of health, lack of preventive measures, having many children, excessive borrowing, etc. I previously wrote a reading note titled "Why You Work So Hard Yet Still Can't Escape Poverty."
3. "The Courage to Be Disliked"
This book mainly uses dialogue to convey Adler's philosophical ideas of teleology, which differs from Freud's causality. Freud advocates that the past leads to the present; people often say, "I am like this now because of my family background." They might think, "I didn't study before, so I can't study now."
Teleology focuses more on purpose. For example, a mischievous child may simply want to attract attention rather than lacking discipline from a young age.
Many times, our misfortunes are our own choices, and we often resolutely decide not to change. A sense of inferiority is a manifestation of the pursuit of excellence, but an inferiority complex is not. An inferiority complex is merely a way of escaping, such as not wanting to do B because A cannot be done.

4. "Poor Charlie's Almanack"
"Poor Charlie's Almanack" is the first book through which I encountered Munger's thoughts. Munger's idea of multi-disciplinary thinking opened my mental boundaries. Here is the explanation of "multi-disciplinary models" from the book:
In simple terms, it is essential to learn the key theories of different disciplines, which are the underlying frameworks of these disciplines, so that our thinking and problem-solving do not appear overly simplistic.

5. "Scarcity"
I won't say much about this book; it can help you understand your current state from a different perspective. Many times, we make many anti-intellectual decisions due to scarcity. This book analyzes, from a scientific perspective, why humans make decisions they usually wouldn't make, and the differences between the poor and the rich. It discusses how we can avoid the emergence of scarcity.
